OPERANDO SPECTROSCOPY
At Yan Vogel Lab, we use spectroscopy for studying electrochemical reactions. We have customized setups to perform steady-state absorption and photoluminescence spectroscopy over a spectral range spanning from the ultraviolet (0.2 μm) to the mid infrared (20 μm). Such broad spectral range allows us to identify both electronic and vibrational transitions. We interpret the spectroscopic signatures to obtain details of the electrochemical reaction such as the nanocrystal and catalyst oxidation state, or the determination of formed intermediate species. In parallel, we also develop new spectroelectrochemical methods to push the boundaries of what is possible to observe.
