Dr. Yan Vogel is an NWO Veni laureate and group leader in the Department of Chemical Engineering at TU Delft. After earning BSc and MSc degrees in Chemistry in Spain (2015), he completed a PhD in Australia (2020), followed by postdoctoral appointments at TU Delft and ETH Zürich. In 2025, he established his independent research group at TU Delft.

His research seeks to uncover the fundamental principles governing electrochemical reactivity and leverage this knowledge to advance sustainable electrochemical manufacturing and next-generation optoelectronic technologies. The group develops and applies operando spectroscopy and microscopy methods that directly observe electrochemical processes as they occur, with current research focusing on CO₂ electrolysis and quantum-dot-based optoelectronic devices.

Dr. Vogel has authored over 30 peer-reviewed publications, secured over €600,000 in competitive research funding as principal investigator, and supervised 5 MSc, 2 Honours, and 5 BSc research projects. His work has been recognized with the Chancellor's Commendation Thesis Award, the Australian Government Distinguished Talent Award, the Young Author Prize of the International Society of Electrochemistry and the NWO Veni Talent Programme.

His long-term goal is to develop molecular-level understanding of electrochemical interfaces that enables transformative advances in sustainable chemical manufacturing.
